Types of Presentations at ICOI

Choose the format that best fits your work. Below are guidelines for Paper, Poster, and Roundtable sessions, plus proceedings and audio-visual information.

Paper Sessions

Presentation

15 minutes per participant

Theoretical / Concept / Idea-based Paper

Abstract length: 300 words

  • Concepts / theories / ideas to be addressed
  • Related literature and research
  • Fit within existing literature & conference theme
  • Conclusion or implications for the profession

Research-based Paper

Abstract length: 300 words

  • Problem statement, question, or hypothesis
  • Context in the literature
  • Research design and methodology
  • Results / major findings
  • Conclusions / implications of the study

Poster Sessions

Poster sessions are held in a large room. Tables are available for all presentations, and presenters may request easels. Presenters staff their assigned tables during the scheduled poster session, while participants circulate for informal Q&A.

Poster Abstract

200–300 words

  • Overview of the research topic
  • Concept / ideas and the type of results being shared
  • Implications for the profession

Roundtable Sessions

Roundtables maximize interaction by eliminating formal presentation. Presenters are assigned to numbered tables in a large room for discussion with attendees. Ideal for topics best pursued through extensive discussion.

Roundtable Abstract

200–300 words

May be presented in poster format, PowerPoint, or a short discussion paper.

  • Structure of participant interaction
  • Outline of questions to be addressed
  • Implications for the profession

Conference Proceedings

Papers submitted before May 11, 2026 will be included on a complimentary flash drive of the 2026 ICOI Proceedings. The flash drive will also contain a copy of the conference proposal.

Submit early to ensure your paper is included in the proceedings package.

Audio Visual Equipment

Each breakout room will have a DLP/LCD projector and screen. Presenters should bring electronic presentations on their laptop or a flash drive.
